With 24 years of marine industry experience I’ve developed a keen understanding of vessels of all kinds, the equipment and machinery that makes them function, the standards that govern their safety, and the conditions where they operate. My shipboard roles have included crew and captain positions on charter yachts, historic ships, excursion vessels, and sail training ships; my shoreside fleet management roles include leading the marine launch of Canada’s largest passenger vessel excursion service at Niagara Falls, and managing Atlantic Canada’s largest passenger vessel fleet. I have spent thousands of hours underway in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Caribbean, and in shipyards managing refits and new builds.
If you need a vessel inspection in advance of a purchase, for insurance or financing, if you are taking delivery of a new vessel, or assessing damage, I will apply my experience to make sure there are no surprises. My surveys are accurate, thorough, and comprehensive (see What's Included for details). If your vessel has unique attributes that require special attention, I will put the time in to make sure all the details are correct. I am a Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors Associate (SAMS®), a Transport Canada certified commercial captain (Master 3000 Tonnes), a Transport Canada approved small passenger vessel safety trainer, and a member of the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC®). I split my time between Nova Scotia and Michigan so I am available for surveys in Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunswick and all around the Great Lakes region.
